Archive of the things I've created outside of the product design role 😄
I began my coding journey with a fun project: creating an eye that follows the cursor and setting it as my desktop background using specialized software. After over two years of coding for enjoyment, I'm looking to elevate the project by incorporating SVG filters and CSS blend modes, adding a touch of humor to enhance the overall experience.
Charles Gaines, an artist, approaches the world as a construct, creating his artwork based on systems rather than intuition or personal experiences. Inspired by his perspective, my series of interpretation involved dissecting a painting into 8 distinct colors using a Machine Learning Clustering Algorithm. By separating these colors into layers, I aimed to depict the idea that subjective experiences are also constructs in themselves.
"-Rest" is a creative coding project I undertook to develop a website that would evoke a sense of peacefulness. Drawing inspiration from my experiences of staring into a campfire, I designed a hazy material that moves randomly over time using three.js and shader park to create an interactive shader. Additionally, I ensured that the material was responsive to the audio from the user's device to enhance the immersive experience.
"Break!" was a design project that challenged me to create without using any traditional design tools such as Adobe Suite. In the spirit of breaking away from typical design processes, I took the concept literally and coded a box that could be shattered with a single click. This approach allowed me to explore unconventional methods of design and creativity.
"Hourglass" is a project I developed during a class exercise where we were given the theme of "Time." My aim with this project was to redefine the transient nature of time. To achieve this, I first defined the concept of temporality, and then focused on redefining the fleeting aspect of time by creating lively and bouncy particles within the hourglass. This approach allowed me to explore new perspectives on the concept of time and its transitory nature.
"Downpour" is a project that involved developing a custom variable font and using it to create a website to promote the font. Drawing inspiration from heavy rain, I designed a variable font that creates shapes using only vertical lines. The website I created aims to embody the concept that influenced the font's development through utilizing mostly CSS.
In the fast-paced world of website development, I became curious about what happens to all the "archived" websites. To explore this further, I developed this website that compares the current state of the most highly trafficked websites to their original versions. Through this project, I hope to shed light on the evolution of websites and the changes that occur over time.
Recently, I have become greatly interested in horror and maze games and their immersive qualities compared to other first-person games. As a result, I decided to create my own horror game that incorporates a maze element. Using 3D modeling, I created a custom maze and an AI system to follow the player. To add to the game's scare factor, I modeled the enemy after Thomas the Train, a character that frightened me in my childhood.
Whenever I am with my friends, we usually end up playing one or two mini games for various reasons. Inspired by that, I wanted to create a light online mini game that I could play casually with my friends. Cat Arena is a 2D platform online shooting game that I created, where cute cats shoot energy bolts to compete against each other!
During a class exercise, I created a project titled "Bloom," where I aimed to distort reality in a unique way. Using footage of flowers blooming, I added various elements to the video to create a surreal and twisted reality within the footage.
“Quote” is a project that I completed a motion graphic project for a typography class. This project was among my initial attempts at using After Effects without incorporating any video footage. Using a quote randomly provided by the professor, I created motion graphics in the form of kinetic typography to visually represent the quote's meaning.
